Tribal Echo Accoustic   Saturday 9 January 2010

Tribal Echo is an Afrikaans band born to take you on a journey with their heartfelt lyrics, music and stage act! The band started out using hip hop and rap as their main vehicle to get their message across but they are equally comfortable to move between different musical genres. Tribal Echo has been active since 2002 as a hip hop act at various festivals, but in 2007 they started performing acoustic sets. The critics call it Folk Soul. It is this kind of versatility that sets Tribal Echo apart as a multitalented band with the ability to easily cross over between the different musical genres. Add to it their natural comedic approach and stage presence, and you have a performance to remember. They originally started out in 2002 as an English band, but soon changed when they decided to focus on making Afrikaans music instead. Their debut Cd, "Grafte Oppi Vlakte" (Graves on the Flats) refers to the struggle of the typical South African community facing the moral and social issues in society. Tribal Echo's shows will blow your mind and uplift your spirit every time you see and hear them. The band consists of Frazer Barry, Sandy Gertse and Jacques Sias. This Kleinmond-based trio consists of Frazer Barry (vocals, guitar and keyboard), Sandy Gertse (backing vocals and harmonica) and Jacques Sias (backing vocals and djembe).
